“My work is inspired by a typical walk through a park. Although this particular collection is based on a walk through the Ormeau Park, Belfast, the pieces within it can be translated to any park. I use organic and inorganic materials, such as branches of wood and resin, to highlight the importance of parks in enabling us to take time out to reflect on the things we take for granted in everyday life. Each link, whether it is a neckpiece or a brooch, signifies a different part of the park’s ecosystem which is represented by the chain that connects them together. The colours in my work play another important role as each one represents an aspect of the park and its surroundings that you would only notice as you walk through it. My jewellery is simply a reminder of this.”
