NCAD Metals and Jewellery Graduate Show 2017

NCAD, Metals and Jewellery Graduate Show 2017

We had a great day in Dublin this month visiting the NCAD graduate show. One of the new graduates, Emma Larkin, kindly gave us an insight into the work on display. We missed the NCAD degree show last year and it is a pity to see that this year, similarly to Belfast the number of graduates is much smaller. However there were some very interesting pieces, such as Caoimhe McGuckin’s shoe brooch with lovely details (front & back) and Jessica Whittle’s Connectivity range which included individually made display cases for each piece. See the images below for more details.

Graduates this year include: Caoimhe McGuckin, Emma Larkin, Hannah Lawlor, Jessica Whittle, Sinead Christie and Sophie Scullion.

The Artist in Residence Scheme at Belfast College of Art offers an opportunity to a number of its top graduates to stay on for one year in a supported environment, which helps to develop their professional practice. Two of this year’s graduates featured below you may recognise from our previous blog posts. Claire Skelton (Jewellery & Silversmithing graduate 2016) and Melyssa Shannon (Ceramics Graduate 2016).
