Fiona Wood

Fiona Wood. Project title: ‘Babel 2014’ Description: Forged, etched oxidised copper and steel. Statement: ‘Drawing inspiration from architectural forms and a fascination with geometry and angular shape formations ‘Babel’ is a collection which aims to create a physical representation of our language as object. They are a visual noise, a communication, a noise which permeates all areas of our lives. From the signs and slogans on bill boards and T-shirts which scream for our attention, to the audio and verbal which whisper and speak sometimes streamed via digital technology into our ears. This body of work hopes to address these communications. Hinting at order pulled into disorder, with lightweight metal construction which move, flex and collapse.’
